- 10ml (2 tsp) cocoa powder
- 25cm (10") square cake board
- Bake the family chocolate cake mixture in a 23cm (9 inch) square cake tin, as directed.

- Put on the cake board.
- Mix the coca powder with 10ml (2 tsp) boiling water and add this to the remaining butter icing.

- Cut 4 flakes into quarters and place them with two pieces alternately, vertically and horizontally.
- Then cut two flakes into eight and repeat this process.
- Put the knitting needles into the cake; one goes on top, and the other goes through the center filling, so that the handles cross.
- Use the remaining icing to fill a piping bag fitted with a star nozzle.
- Pipe sticks of icing over the top needle.
- Sprinkle the sugar strands over the top of the cake in a flaked pattern.
